#36 From Zero to Ultra-Running Champion – Zac Marion

Mar 31, 2021

In this episode, I talk with inspiring ultra-runner Zac Marion. He started running at 24 years old because he was sick of being overweight and felt extremely unhealthy. He chose running because it was the cheapest thing to do. One year and almost 100lbs later he ran a relay race and was instantly hooked.

In 2013 he decided to try the trails and dipped his toe into ultra marathons. His first one was a disaster, but from what he learned and went on to run one of the hardest ultras in the world — the Leadville 100. He then went on to compete in the wild ultra marathon series and won the Bryce 100 and Ouray 100.

This podcast is brought to you by Jaybird RUN wireless headphones.

Based in Park City, Utah, Jaybird works with a team of ultra-marathoners to build wireless headphones specifically for runners. An obsessive focus on sweat-proofing, water-resistance, powerful battery life, and a customizable fit make Jaybird headphones ideal for athletes looking to push themselves with music.

They even have a Jaybird App that lets you customize the sound of your earbuds to your preference — and also share Spotify playlists with other runners. Jaybird recently took a big step forward with the release of their true wireless earbuds, Jaybird RUN.

If you’ve listened to this podcast, you know that I love running with music. I use music to focus on cadence and run to the beat to improve my running form — and it helps me stay motivated and focused.

But finding the right headphones can be a challenge. That’s why I love the Jaybird RUN wireless headphones – they are built for runners, by runners. Nuff said – they know what runners want and need.

I’ve used them all season for my workouts and I can tell you it’s really great to be able to listen to music without wires flying all over the place and getting caught up in my arm swing. Plus — knowing they’re sweat-proof and that they won’t fall out of your ears – I put them in and go without worry! Some of Jaybird RUN’s best features are how comfortably secure they are and how you can run with just one bud, so your left ear can be completely open to your surroundings.
